HRCA Quick Check Booklet
The Human Rights Compliance Assessment is a diagnostic tool designed to promote corporate social responsibility by providing companies with useful information about how to avoid human rights violations in all aspects of their operations. It is a practical tool which has been mapped against the guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and can assist companies with GRI and Global Compact reporting.
The HRCA 'Quick Check' comprises approximately 10% of all the questions contained in the entire HRCA database and relates to some of the most essential human rights issues a company must consider in relation to its activities. This check was developed in cooperation with a group of development finance institutes to provide companies and investment funds with a condensed assessment covering key human rights issues.

Menneskerettigheder og Virksomheder –
Institut for Menneskerettigheders HRCA Quick Check

Complicity in Human Rights
Violations: A Responsible Business Approach to Suppliers
This Working Paper is the result of
discussions with select company members of the Confederation of
Danish Industries, who were assembled in a series of meetings
held by the Human Rights & Business Project to discuss one of
the most complex human rights problems facing companies today:
complicity in human rights violations committed by suppliers.
The resulting framework is intended to serve as general guidance
for companies, both Danish and foreign, wishing to develop more
formal due diligence policies on supply-side complicity, or to
enlarge on existing policies from an objective, ethically
balanced perspective.

Corporate Codes of Conduct in Denmark – An Examination of their CSR Content
The study examines the content of Danish codes of conduct. While several studies have been conducted into the content of codes of conduct at the international level, we know very little about the exact formulation of social and environmental requirements in Danish codes. Do they provide an adequate coverage of core labour standards? Are the codes detailed or not? What international standards do they reference? What does the text reveal about the efforts undertaken to implement the codes into practice? This report addresses these and other questions based on an in-depth qualitative study of a sample of Danish corporate codes. The study benchmarks the performance of Danish codes against: 1) international norms and standards on human rights and labour; 2) codes of conduct developed in cooperation between trade unions, NGOs and companies; 3) codes of conduct issued by foreign corporations. The report contains a summary in Danish
The report was prepared for the Confederation of Danish Industries by Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen of the Danish Institute for Human Rights.

The Promise of a Human Rights and
Business Commission
This report reviews existing resolution mechanisms for disputes involving business and human rights and recommends the establishment of a Human Rights and Business Commission (HRBC) that aims to fill the gap in existing mechanisms and seeks to resolve human rights and business disputes in an expeditious and effective manner. Because the Commission will be unable to make legally enforceable decisions, it complements adjudication and the other methods described above, and serves as an alternative to them in places where those mechanisms are weak or do not exist. The report was commissioned by the Human Rights & Business Project at the Danish Institute for Human Rights in conjunction with the Confederation of Danish Industries and the Industrialization Fund for Developing Countries (IFU). The report was written by three masters degree candidates at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University under the guidance of Mr. Liam Mahony
