Contributors to the development of the HRCA
The content of the HRCA represents the combined efforts of numerous scholars, human rights advocates, and business people from around the world. Its success is ultimately owed to the outstanding work and cooperation of over 200 committed contributors. For their work, the following individuals are acknowledged:
The HRCA was originally designed and developed by Dr Margaret Jungk at the Danish Institute for Human Rights. The tool’s development was sponsored by Danida, the Confederation of Danish Industries, and the Industrialization Fund for Developing Countries. The development of the HRCA computer programme was sponsored by the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank Group.

Companies testing the HRCA
Shell International served as the primary test company for the HRCA during the research and pilot phases. The tests in selected Shell companies were facilitated by Frank Denelle (from 2000-2002) and Joppe Cramwinckle (from 2002-2004).
The HRCA pilot test in Shell South Africa (Oct-Nov 2001) was facilitated by Vernon de Vries, with contributions from Errol Marshall (CEO), Sedick Samodien (Dir. External Affairs), and numerous other Shell employees.
Grundfos’s pilot test of the HRCA Quick Check in 48 production units worldwide was facilitated by Christian Hartvig.
BASF’s pilot test of the HRCA Quick Check was facilitated by Andreas Blüthner.
